Blocks Size Frequency Distribution in the Enceladus Tiger Stripes Area: Implications on Their Formative Processes

We study the size frequency distribution of blocks located in deeply fractured, geologically active Enceladus South Polar Terrain with aim to suggest their formative mechanisms. Through Cassini ISS images, we identify ~17,000 sizes ranging from ~25 m 366 m, and at different distances Damascus, Baghdad Cairo Sulci. On all counts for both Damascus cases, power-law fitting curve has an index that is similar one obtained on actively sublimating Hathor cliff comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko, where several non-dislodged are observed. This suggests as 67P, sublimation surface stresses favor fractures development icy matrix, hence resulting comparable block disaggregation. A steeper may a higher degree fragmentation, which could be result localized, stronger tectonic disruption lithospheric ice. Eventually, show smallest identified tens 20–25 km Sulci fissures, while largest found closer tiger stripes. supports ejection hypothesis mechanism possible source blocks.
